I just LOVE the holiday season! From Thanksgiving to January 1, it is my most favorite time of the year. I so enjoy time spent with family and friends during this magical time, but I also am excited to decorate and bake for all of the wonderful occasions! Today marks my first day of Thanksgiving break, and I have spent every minute looking for decorating ideas and making Target/Michael’s trips for supplies. I am headed back to the frozen tundra (Wisconsin) that I call home on Monday, so my plan is to finish all of my decorating before I leave!
First project- Glittery Pinecones. I think pinecones are a fabulous touch for the holidays, and you can’t go wrong with a little (or a lot) of glitter! I saw this idea on Pinterest, of course, but I put my own spin on it.
Supplies: 2 bags of pinecones (found mine at Michael’s), tacky glue, glitter (gold or silver works, I picked gold to match my other decorations), and some fun ribbon (I used 3 types).
I glittered about 15 pinecones by using my finger to spread glue all over them, and then sprinkle glitter on them. What worked best for me was to dump the glitter into a bowl, and then dip the whole pinecone into it- worked much easier and they turned out much more sparkly. For the remaining pinecones, I used my different ribbons and weaved them through the pinecones for a pop of color.
I let my glittered pincones dry, and then arranged all of them in a pretty triangle bowl and placed it on the bar in the kitchen. Absolutely love this festive holiday touch!
