{Sweets} Valentine’s Day Peanut Butter Blossoms

Valentine’s day is right around the corner! In honor of this lovely holiday, I thought I’d whip up some festive cookies for the occasion, although I never really need an “occasion” to bake something. I used my favorite peanut butter blossom recipe from my grandmother, and just added a couple of “Valentine’s-y” touches.

I used pink and white sugar to roll the dough in…

Dark chocolate dove hearts instead of kisses…

The perfect little (yummy) Valentine’s treat! So easy to make, and quick too, it only took me 45 minutes from making the dough to taking the last batch out of the oven!

{Sweets} Multicolored Leaf Cookies

I saw these on Pinterest the other day and once again, knew I had to make them to add to our Thanksgiving table. Although we already had more than enough sweets for 10 people- 3 pies, a beautiful tray of chocolates, and gelato {can you really have too many?}, I gave it a try… I think they turned out great.

I used a basic sugar cookie recipe I found online and made the dough.

1. Divide the dough into 4 equal amounts, with a bowl for each. Use food coloring to color the dough- I used yellow, orange, red, and green, but you could do any colors you want. {I’m thinking of doing red, white, and blue for the 4th of July, perhaps?}.

2. Individually wrap each color and refrigerate for 30-45 minutes, or until chilled.

3. When chilled, cut each color into 4 separate pieces. Move them around so you have 4 sets of all 4 colors… hopefully that makes sense.

4. Rip apart all of the colors and make a mosaic type thing. I placed another piece of plastic wrap on top, and rolled the dough out, and you get a multicolored piece of dough for cut out cookies. After cutting out the cookies, bake as directed. I used the scraps and re-rolled out the dough {until it started turning a brown yucky color}.

So easy, and such a festive touch to a fall dessert table. Happy baking… now onto the Christmas cookies!
