{Travel} Summer in Wisconsin

Yikes! It’s been a while- what a crazy month this has been. My parents are moving out of my childhood home this week {to Nashville!}, so Grant and I made the trip up to Wisconsin before the house has new owners! We had a wonderful long vacation, full of friends, family, good eats, new adventures, many memories, and even more “see you laters” {I don’t believe in goodbyes}. Since we’ve been back, I’ve been getting ready for my new school {nursing no longer!} and new job {at Vanderbilt’s Career Center} to start!

A few of my most favorite Wisconsin vacation moments {sorry for so many!}…

Summer Sounds – Cedarburg

Madison Farmer’s Market

A day of boating on Green Lake

Found all of my 1st grade lunch notes from my wonderful Mom while packing!

Birthday Roundup

What a whirlwind these past few weeks have been! Here’s a recap of my wonderful birthday/week/month…

It started with a wonderful dinner at Sambuca planned by my sweet, sweet friends!

Prosecco from mom and dad, a delicious dinner, and even better company kicked off a fabulous celebration.

Oh, and I must add, I am now hooked on cupcakes from The Cupcake Collection– my parents sent them for after-dinner dessert, and good ole’ Gigi’s has nothing on them. If you haven’t been there, GO. Like go today. Do you really need a reason for a cupcake?

My birthday was topped off with a delightful picnic on Love Hill, nothing beats this gorgeous view of the city!

Nashville Skyline

I went home to Cedarburg for the weekend, where my family and I had a wonderful time! We went out to dinner Friday night, dad cooked on Saturday, and we had my whole family over for birthday/graduation/Easter lunch on Sunday. I was spoiled with TWO cakes, one for graduation and one for getting old.

Birthday!

I couldn’t have asked for a better week- I feel so loved…

{Home} Happy Spring!

Happy Spring, Ya’ll!

Today marks the first day of my favorite season (tied with fall)! I decided that while I was in the spring cleaning mode this past weekend, I would spruce up the place with some springtime touches… Can’t go wrong with fresh tulips, new spring pillows, paper bunting, and a festive buffet!

Home Sweet Wisconsin

I absolutely love coming home. I think the perks of living far away make coming home that much more sweet- and sweet it is, literally. My mom owns a chocolate store, so goodness, do I get more than my share of treats when I’m here- and I don’t have to make any of them! I also get pillow chocolates, just like at hotels, except these are actually made with love. So yes, I enjoy coming home, and the benefits that come with it. I also like coming home for the holidays because we have a family tradition of getting our Christmas tree the day after Thanksgiving. We either go down the street to a Christmas tree farm, or drive up north to my grandparents to chop down our own (see below).

Schaefer Family Tree- fresh from the forest

Naturally, I thought we would be doing the same this year- BUT NO, my parents “surprised” me and got a FAKE TREE, pre-lit, no less, that is currently in a BOX in the garage! Like we actually have to put it together and “fluff” it. You shouldn’t have to assemble a tree. I can’t believe it. It could have something to do with the fact that I had a severe allergic reaction to the pine sap last year and they were being thoughtful and didn’t want a repeat of that… but nonetheless, I think there is something so special and “Wisconsin-ish” in having a real tree that was probably chopped down less than a mile from our house!

So anyways, its really great to be home, fake tree and all, and can’t wait for a full 2 days of cooking for Thanksgiving. Oh and that little football game… Packers vs. Lions. What an excellent way to kick off turkey day!
